Summary:Excerpts from the Foreword: This bibliography contains references to books, pamphlets and periodical articles on the economic aspects of the leaf and manufactured tobacco industry in the United States and foreign countries published from 1932 through the first half of 1938. It includes references on the agricultural adjustment and control programs for leaf tobacco of the United States Department of Agriculture, and on cost of production, credit, grading, standardization, inspection, labor, legislation, marketing, price, statistics, and taxation. It also contains references on advertising, sales campaigns and the financial standing of tobacco companies as well as on labor problems, taxation, and other aspects of the manufactured products industry. References on the following phases of the subject have not been included: culture except when it occurs in publications included for other reasons; diseases and pests; physiological aspects; chemical aspects, with the exception of a few references on tobacco curing; and technical, processes of manufacturing tobacco products. Many unsigned articles have been included, but editorials have been omitted. Blank forms, such as contracts and certificates issued by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration even if in a numbered series, have been omitted. The bibliography is in two main sections: The first contains references to material published in the United States, and the second, foreign references. The United States section is also in two main parts. The first contains references on leaf tobacco, classified by subject, and sections on Puerto Rico and the Philippine Islands. The second contains references on tobacco products and is classified by subject.
