| Summary: | The biggest problem most organizations encounter in imaging is document conversion. One of the most comprehensive examples of technology to assist in this process is the DocuSystem from Terminal Data Corp., an integrated document image capture and indexing system that can scan up to 54 full-size, 2-sided pages per minute. Content-based searching enables the system to seek out a document based on the text. Open Text, by the company of the same name, features a data search software module known as PAT, which may be the fastest text-based retrieval system on the market. The key operational issue is information routing, or workflow. FileNet is one of the leading suppliers of intelligent information routing software. Support problems begin with the multivendor/multiproduct nature of an imaging system implementation. System upgrading is also a major issue. A 6-step approach to overcome these technology hurdles involves: 1. discovery, 2. functional requirements, 3. request for proposal, 4. integration, 5. implementation, and 6. support. |
