Summary:This issue of Convergence represents an editorial development in itself. It was originally planned as a collection of articles on a diversity of thematic areas around the UNESCO International Adult Education conference in Brazil 2009. Later in the process it got closer to the discussions within the ICAE to prepare for CONFINTEA VI. It was thus decided to include the most recent policy document as well as key papers from the virtual seminar that took place to generate a debate around key themes likely to be of prime importance.
