사례연구: 권총 강도 살인사건: 과거와 현재의 법과학적 DNA 수사

2001년 12월 21일 대전의 한 은행 지하 주차장에서 현금을 수송하던 직원이 권총에 의해 사망하 였고, 범인은 3억원의 현금을 강탈하였다. 범인이 착용했을 것으로 추정되는 중요 증거물인 마스크가 범 죄 현장에 남겨졌으나, 당시에 DNA 프로필은 검출되지 않았다. 한국에서 흔치 않았던 총기를 사용한 살 인사건은 다양한 수사 끝에도 살인자의 신원에 대한 단서가 나오지 않아서 미해결로 남게 되었다. 2017년 에 새롭게 발전된 분석 기술을 적용하여 보관되었던 DNA 잔량에서 DNA 프로필이 검출되었다. 2011년 도에 설립된 국가 데이터베이스에 검색을 시행하였고, 2015년도에 발생한 사건 현장 증거물의 DNA 프 로필과 일치하는 것이 확인되었다. Y 염색체 STR 단상형과 혈액형이 추가적으로 분석되었고 수사에 도움이 되도록 정보를 제공하였다. 이후 5년 동안의 수사로 2022년에 용의자는 검거되어 살인 혐의를 자백 하였고, 유죄 판결을 받았다. 이 논문에서는 새로운 분석 기술의 적용과 시스템 개선을 통한 장기 미해결 살인사건의 성공적 해결과정을 보고하고 다른 여러 장기 미해결 사건들에도 적용의 필요성을 제시하고자 한다. On December 21, 2001, an employee transporting cash in underground parking lot of a bank in Daejeon was killed by a pistol. A mask, an important piece of evidence presumed to have been worn by the criminal, was left at the crime scene, but no DNA profile was detected. The murder case, which was not common using a firearm in Korea, remained unsolved as there was still no leads about the killer's identity after various investigations. In 2017, DNA profile was detected in archived DNA sample using newly developed analysis techniques. A DNA profile matching the evidence from the crime scene in 2015 was identified in the National Database. Y-STR haplotype data and ABO genotyping provided information necessary for the investigation. After a five-year investigation (in 2022), the suspect was arrested, confessed to the murder and was later convicted of the murder. In this paper, we report on the successful application of the new technique and system improvement. The various successful applications of the new analysis method in long-term unsolved murder cases show its applicability to many other cases as well. KCI Citation Count: 0
