| Summary: | Stapedial ankylosis typically arises from the fixation of the stapedial footplate, with other stapes structures remaining intact. The ossification of the stapedial tendon in the middle ear is an extremely rare condition of the stapedial ankylosis. In this study, we present an unusual case of ossification of the bilateral stapedial tendons. The patient underwent surgical intervention involving the meticulous division of the surrounding ossified structures while preserving the integrity of the stapedial tendon.
The procedures were performed using an endaural microscopic approach and a transcanal endoscopic approach for each ear, respectively. We provide a review of the relevant literature and discuss our surgical techniques employed to address stapedial tendon ossification while maintaining tendon preservation. KCI Citation Count: 0 |
