다문화 사회를 위한 대학 교양 교육 필요성과 방향성 고찰

본 연구의 목적은 오랫동안 단일 민족 이데올로기에 사로잡혔던 한국 사회가 다문화 사회에 진입하면서 경험하는 다양한 양상, 상호 문화 존중, 그리고 인식의 확장을 위한 대학 교양 교육의 필요성에 대한 구체적 논의를 수행하는 것이다. 기본적으로 다문화 사회는 상호 이질성을 인정하고 문화에대한 이해, 소통, 그리고 공감의 노력이 이루어져야 한다. 다문화 가정의 학생이 대학 생활에 잘 적응하고 건강한 사회의 구성원이 되기 위해서는 대학에서의 교양 교육이 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다. 국제사회는 정보통신 기술의발달, 교통 통신 체계의 혁신, 그리고 활발한 국제 교류를 통해서 각 국가 사이의 이주가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 한국 사회는 이주노동자, 국제결혼 이주여성, 그리고 북한 탈북자 등 다양한 문화 배경을 지닌 사람들의 이주로인해 다문화 사회로 진입한 만큼 새로운 국가 공동체 형성을 위한 대학 교양교육의 필요성이 제기되는 시점이다. 다문화 가정의 학생들은 정체성의 혼란, 부모의 보살핌 결여, 그리고 공동체 소외로 인해서 한국 사회 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 다문화 공동체 사회를 구성하고 있는 한국은 상호 문화수용, 이질적 문화가치 존중, 그리고 문화의 다양성 이해와관련된 대학 교양 교육의 강좌 개설과 커리큘럼의 확보가 필요한 것이다. 이러한 다문화 공동체에 대한 인식의 확장이 반영된 대학 교양 교육의 방향성은 향후 한국의 문화적 다양성을 발전시키면서 통합적인 다문화 공동체 사회로 이끌어 갈 것이다. The purpose of this study is to conduct a detailed discussion on the various aspects in Korean society, which has long been obsessed with the mono-ethnic ideology, as it enters into a multicultural society, respect for mutual cultures, and the necessity of university liberal arts education to expand awareness. Basically, in a multicultural society, there must be an effort to acknowledge each other's heterogeneity and to understand, communicate, and empathize with each other's cultures. In order for students from multicultural families to adapt well to university life and become healthy members of society, liberal arts education at universities can play an important role. The international community is actively migrating between countries through the development of information and communication technology, innovation of transportation and communication systems, and active international exchange. As South Korean society has entered a multicultural society due to the migration of people with diverse cultural backgrounds, such as migrant workers, international marriage migrant women, and North Korean defectors, the need for university liberal arts education to form a new national community is raised. This is because students from multicultural families have difficulties adjusting to Korean society due to identity confusion, lack of parental care, and alienation from the community. Therefore, Korea, which constitutes a multicultural community, needs to open college liberal arts courses and secure curriculum related to mutual cultural acceptance, respect for intellectual cultural values, and understanding of cultural diversity. The direction of college liberal arts education reflecting the expansion of awareness of this multicultural community will lead to an integrated multicultural community society while developing Korea's cultural diversity in the future.
