Summary:The purpose of this study is to examine and understand the perceptions and the status of the virtual reality based oral health education contents among the dental professionals. Based on which, An attempt has been made to propose the direction which the VR based the oral health educational contents or programs ought to aim for. The study participants were selected by using the non-probability sampling methods as dental hygienists and dentists with more than 3 years of work experience at dental institutions. A total of 15 participants were selected, including 4 clinical dental hygienists, 5 public dental hygienists, and 6 dentists. The focus group interviews were conducted in June and July 2022, and they were conducted twice for each group. Through the focus group interviews, 11 central topics were derived - experiences by using the VR based contents, considerations, necessity of training, expected effect, effective class contents, appropriate type for production, manpower to carry out, preparation for performance, improvement in the perception of the subject, difficulty of use, and pressure. When producing the virtual reality based educational contents, it would be necessary to prepare a plan to increase the convenience of use, and consider the working environment and purpose of the use of dental professionals.
