Summary:Conventional lateral cephalometric radiographs are widely used in orthodontics and oral maxillofacial surgery. However, it suffers often from structural overlap and inadequate positioning of the head of the subject during the scan, limiting its diagnostic utility and affecting treatment decision-making. In this work, we propose a new method to produce digital lateral cephalometric radiographes from 3D head images acquired with dental CBCT, which is becoming widely available in dental clinics. Preliminary results reveal that the method proposed can yield digital lateral cephalometric radiographs with improved contrast and landmarks of clinical relevance.
