PURPOSE: A shift control method of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to reduce unnecessary operations of an accelerator pedal and fuel consumption by checking operation conditions of the vehicle and setting a shift diagram, to improve traveling performance by accurately deciding the weight change of the vehicle and the condition of a road, and to improve shift response property by recognizing driving habits of a driver to the weight of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A shift control method of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is composed of steps for computing a load weight of the vehicle under a starting condition of a present vehicle and deciding if the vehicle starts(S120); detecting conditions of a road after the vehicle starts and deciding if a gear level changed from 1 speed to 2 speed is completed(S160); setting a shift diagram with regard of the weight of the vehicle, conditions of the road, and shift time from 1 speed to 2 speed(S180); and checking driving habits of a driver and holding the shift diagram at a present state or re-setting the shift diagram(S220,S230,S240). 차량의 무게 변화와 도로 조건 및 운전자의 운전 경향을 고려하여 변속선도를 조절하여 주행성능 및 변속 응답성을 향상시키고, 이에 따른 연비 향상을 도모할 수 있는 자동 변속기의 변속 제어방법을 제공할 목적으로; 현재 차량의 출발조건에서 차량의 적재 무게를 산출하고, 차량이 출발하였는가를 판단하는 제1 단계와; 상기 제1 단계에서 차량의 출발 후 도로 조건을 검출하고, 변속단이 1속에서 2속으로의 변속이 완료되었는가를 판단하는 제2 단계와; 상기 차량 무게 및 도로 조건과 1속에서 2속으로의 변속시간을 고려하여 변속선도를 설정하는 제3 단계와; 차량의 운행과정에서 운전자의 운전 습관을 파악하여 변속선도를 현재의 상태에서 유지하거나 재설정하는 제4 단계로 이루어지는 차량용 자동 변속기의 변속제어방법을 제공한다.
