Summary:NEW MATERIAL:TCNQ complex of the formula (R1 is ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl; R2 is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, n-hexyl, n-butyl), consisting of 1-alkyl-3- alkylimidazole cation, 7,7,8,8-tetracyanodimethane (TCNQ) radical anion and neutral TCNQ. USE:Electroconductive high-polymer membrane, nonlinear optical material, electrolyte condenser, solid electrolyte for cells, switching elements utilizing its memory function and so on. PREPARATION:1-Alkyl-3-alkylimidazole iodide obtained from 1-alkylimidazole and an alkyl iodide is dissolved in acetonitrile and combined with a hot TCNQ solution in acetonitrile to effect the reaction for 1.5-2hr to give the subject compound.
