Summary: | PURPOSE:To reduce the number of manufacturing processes of a thin-film magnetic head so as to prevent the magnetic head chip of the head from being damaged by successively forming a protective layer, lower magnetic layer, gap layer, 1st insulating layer, coil pattern layer, 2nd insulating layer, and 2nd magnetic layer on one surface of a base plate and fixing the magnetic head thus produced to the side face of a nonmagnetic substance of a slider member in a facing state. CONSTITUTION:Plural blocks for constructing magnetic head chips by a thin-film technology are set on a light-transmissive insulating nonmagnetic base plate 50 of glass, etc., and conductors 51 which are used as terminals of head coils is embedded in each through hole of the blocks. Then the coil terminal of the magnetic head section 52 formed in each block is connected with the conductors 52 and one magnetic head chip 55 is cut off. The chip 55 is then fitted to the side face of the end section of a slider member 60. The side face is formed of a nonmagnetic material and the chip 55 is firmly stuck to the side face with a bonding agent so that the chip 55 can face the side face. Thus the number of manufacturing processes is reduced and breakage of the magnetic head chip can be prevented. |
