Summary:To provide an imaging apparatus capable of suppressing a tracking lost of a subject in automatic tracking and photographing.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging unit which acquires image data based on light from an optical system; a rotation driving unit which changes the orientation of the imaging unit; a detection unit which detects information on a subject from the image data; a determination unit which determines the velocity of the subject; and a control unit which on the basis of the information on the subject, controls the rotation driving unit and a zooming unit which changes a field angle of imaging by the imaging unit.
