Summary:Two sets of timbers (a,b) at a time are propelled by a screw jack (12) into open-ended multimode waveguides (7) and are secured by locking screws (11). The ends previously prepared for jointing are glued and subjected to microwave irradiation from both sides (4,5) via lateral branch waveguides (6) connected to power magnetrons. The rate of advance of the timbers is adjusted so that the adhesive is entirely hardened when the microwave heater carriage (9) attains the end of its track (13). Pref. the adhesive is "Resorcine" with a hardening time of about 30 seconds. Legal protection is claimed also for a device for implementing this method, for a continuous rafter jointing chain incorporating such a device, and for timbers formed from rafters jointed thereby. L'INVENTION CONCERNE L'UTILISATION DES MICRO-ONDES POUR L'ABOUTAGE DE CHEVRONS.ON UTILISE DE PREFERENCE COMME APPLICATEUR UN GUIDE MUNI DE DEUX BRAS LATERAUX.ABOUTAGE EN CONTINU, MEME A PARTIR DE CHEVRONS NON SECHES.
