| Summary: | The invention relates to a method of load testing a crane, the method comprising suspending a mechanical advantage device (1) between a hoist (2) of a crane (3) and a static lower attachment support (4), the mechanical advantage device (1) being connected to a load testing arrangement (5) comprising one or more movable load testing weights (6) that are suspended and subject to gravity, the mechanical advantage device (1) being configured to reduce a vertical pulling force and transmit the reduced force to the load testing arrangement (5) by a fixed factor, subjecting the mechanical advantage device (1) to a vertical pulling force that equals the load testing capacity of the crane (3), determining the load testing capacity of the crane (3) to be the point where gravity of the one or more load testing weights (6) equals zero. |
