Summary: | Three-dimensional image data including at least a portion of a spine of a subject is received. The spine of the subject is identified in the three-dimensional image data and a spline is defined that approximates a local curvature along the spine. A plurality of volumes of interest (VOIs) are defined, each VOI containing at least a portion of a vertebra of the spine of the subject. Each VOI is defined relative to an adjacent segment of the spline. A fracture in at least one of the VOIs is identified.
