| Summary: | There is provided an immunoassay suitable for point-of-care assessment of liver disease or function, the immunoassay comprising contacting a blood sample from a subject with a specific binding agent that recognizes an epitope of ALT1 to form an antigen-binding agent complex, and detecting the complex using a second or further binding agent linked to or comprising a detectable reporter, the epitope being not recognized by the rodent antibody when the rodent antibody is in the presence of human plasma; and detecting liver diseases or liver functions in the subject according to the mass concentration of the ALT1 in the sample. Also provided are kits or devices comprising rabbit animal antibodies or binding agents containing antigen binding components thereof suitable for measuring the mass concentration of ALT1 in a blood sample from a subject to determine liver function.
