The present invention relates to methods of inhibiting activation of gamma delta T cells expressing V gamma 9 + TCR in a subject by administering to the subject a BTN2A1 antagonist, and methods of inducing or enhancing gamma delta T cells expressing V gamma 9 + TCR in a subject by administering to the subject a BTN2A1 antagonist.
