The invention provides formula feed for tropic ornamental fishes and a preparation method thereof. The formula feed for the tropic ornamental fishes is prepared from trace elements, vitamins, calcium dihydrogenphosphate, astaxanthin, euphausia superba powder, imported fish meal, corn protein powder, squid paste, spirulina, fish oil, phosphatide oil, flour and soybean meal. The preparation method specifically comprises the steps that the trace elements, the vitamins, calcium dihydrogenphosphate and astaxanthin are premixed to obtain premix; the premix and the raw materials except the flour are ground; the premix, the ground raw materials and the flour are put into a mixer to be mixed; the mixed materials are homogenized, heated and humidified, extruded, cut, dried and cooled to obtain the product. According to the universal expanded feed for the tropic ornamental fishes, the feeding requirements of different kinds of the tropic ornamental fishes are met, and the tropic ornamental fishes are produced more rapid
