Summary: | High blood pressure is a recognized health problem. It affects more than 30 % of the adult population in the world. It is considered the most important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease; chronic kidney disease, heart failure and dementia, contributes to global morbidity and mortality. In Cuba, its high prevalence has been proven, a proportion that increases with age.
