Objective To explore the effect of Tongbian Guasha combined with auricular acupoint sticking in the treatment of insomnia with syndrome of liver depression transforming into fire, and investigate its related mechanism. Methods A total of 62 patients with insomnia of liver-depression-transforming-into-fire type were divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 31 cases in each group. Auricular acupoint sticking therapy was conducted after Tongbian Guasha therapy in the experimental group, while the auricular point sticking was performed in the control group. The above therapies were conducted once a week, two weeks as one course, for a total of 2 courses. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCMrome integral, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), levels of melatonin (MT), 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT), dopamine(DA), noradrenaline(NE), and efficacy of treatment were compared between two groups.
