| Summary: | Free Choice Profiling (FCP) is a form of descriptive analysis where each assessor can use its own attributes instead of a common vocabulary. Compared to classical profiling with experts or trained assessors, FCP does not require training which makes a faster and more cost efficient. The method can be used with consumers or experts. Each assessor will define an individual vocabulary and rate the products on this vocabulary. Since each assessor is using different words, the data cannot be analyzed in the same way as classical profiling data but have to be analyzed with a special statistical technique: Generalised Procrustes Analysis (GPA). In contrast to classical profiling where the ratings are averaged over assessors, values remain as individual data, not mean values. The individual data are summarized in a plot showing the products and the attributes of each individual.
Classical profiling data can also be analyzed by GPA, individual data are treated as free choice which makes it possible to compare the performance of individual assessors. |
