| Summary: | In this paper, the challenges in cross-disciplinary learning relevant for using KDD methods in intercultural human-computer interaction (HCI) design are described and solutions are provided. For instance, reframing HCI through local and indigenous perspectives requires the analysis of the local and indigenous perspectives relevant for HCI design. This can be done by experts for intercultural HCI design with different cultural backgrounds and different focal points from relevant disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, linguistics, computer science, information science and cultural studies by using methods for intercultural HCI design. The most important goal is, therefore, to come to a common understanding regarding terminology, methodology and processes necessary in intercultural HCI design to be able to use them in the intercultural context. This also has implications for the use of KDD methods in the cultural context. Hence, the challenges evolved during the intercultural HCI design process are subject to analysis and some aspects useful in reaching the goal are suggested. |
