평계 이정호의 삶과 문학에 나타난 반속(反俗)의 전통주의

이 글은 평계 이정호의 삶과 문학을 조명함으로써 단독정부 수립 이후 나타난 전통주의 시의 경향이 지니는 의미를 영남 로컬리티의 관계 하에 논구하였다. 이를 위해 그의 사후 발간된 전집 『옥적』을 중심으로 그의 시와 시론을 분석하는 한편, 전집 발간과 관련된 인적 네트워크를 분석하였다. 이정호는 ‘나라 만들기’라는 대의를 내세워 우익의 이념적·사상적 정당성을 설파하는 작업에 동참하였을 뿐만 아니라 설창수, 천상병과 인연을 이어가며 세속에 얽매지 않는 비판 정신을 강조하였다. 비교적 활발하게 문단 활동을 이어갔던 해방기부터 유물론에 강한 반감이 강하게 나타나며, 이는 반공주의 및 ‘순수 문학’에 대한 지지로 표명되었다. 또한 전통을 계승해야 한다는 사명감을 바탕으로 「옥적」, 「초생달 단장」 등 서정주의 영향을 받은 작품을 창작하였다. 다만 순수 문학을 지향하면서 과격한 이념성을 드러내거나 신라 정신을 매개로 기독교로 대표되는 서구적 보편을 지향해야 한다고 주장하는 등의 모순적인 모습이 나타난다는 점에서 이 글은 냉전기 청년 주체의 형성과 관련지어 이정호 문학을 비판적으로 고찰하고자 하였다. By focusing the life and literature of Lee Jeong-ho, this article discusses the meaning of the trend of traditionalist poetry under the relationship of Yeongnam locality. To this end, his poetry and poetic were analyzed, focusing on his posthumous collection 『Okjeok』, while the human network related to the publication of collection was also analyzed. Lee Jeong-ho not only participated in the work of preaching the ideological legitimacy of the right wing with the cause of ‘building a country’, but also emphasized the spirit of criticism by continuing ties with Seol Chang-soo and Cheon Sang-byeong. From the liberation period, when he was relatively active in the literary world, a strong antipathy to materialism emerged, which was expressed as support for anti-communism and 'pure literature'. In addition, based on a sense of mission to inherit the tradition, he created works such as 「Okjeok」 and 「Chosaengdal Danjang」. This article is related to the formation of the subject of youth in the Post war in that contradictory aspects such as revealing radical ideology while pursuing pure literature or insisting that we should aim for the Western universal represented by Christianity through the medium of the spirit of Silla.
