Second, words within the same category are not homogeneous. To establish a more explanatory system, reduplicative words were analyzed in relation to the number category. The results demonstrate that iconicity maintains consistent relationships with the phonological, morphological, and numerical meanings of reduplication. Furthermore, the most iconic forms are distributive and their constituents show clear lexical meaning, while the least iconic forms have group reading with vague meanings. KCI Citation Count: 0 |
