Summary: | This study aims to systematize the relational meanings expressed through the use of connective endings, with a focus on the multi-faceted nature of these meanings in linguistic connections. Relational meaning, defined as the temporal, influential, and discursive relevance between two pieces of information that contain one or more events, is intentionally conveyed by the speaker through the way this information is connected and presented. By reviewing existing research on the classification of connective endings and considering the multiplicity of relational meanings, this study proposes a new system that categorizes these meanings into temporal, influential, and discursive facets. It argues that conditions and concessions belong to the influential facet, while enumeration and contrast belong to the discursive facet of relational meaning. The findings aim to deepen the conceptual understanding of relational meaning and contribute to the establishment of a more sophisticated system of meaning classification. KCI Citation Count: 1 |
