Summary:In order to characterize the fine particles and Asian dust through real-time measurement and comprehensive analysis, air quality research center have been established at 11 regions as of 2023 by the National Institute of Environmental Research, the Ministry of Environment. The research centers have settled up a operation method for newly introduced equipment, verified the reliability of measurement results, and analyzed the characteristics and emission sources of fine particles by region. Furthermore, box model has been developed to quantitatively understand the formation mechanism of secondary pollutants such as fine particles and ozone based on the site-specific measurement data. The infrastructure is actively being used for domestic and foreign joint research. In the future, it plans to expand not only air quality research, but also health research based on a joint utilization of research data. KCI Citation Count: 1
