| Summary: | Objectives: This study aimed to divide adolescents’ experiences of violence into domestic violence and school violence to find out the relationship between the violence and adolescents’ suicidal ideation and to verify the role that adolescents’ self-esteem in their relationships. Methods: The study subjects were adolescent living in A city.
For only adolescents’ who received parental consent, a URL that can be surveyed was sent to adolescents by mobile phone text message, and after completing the adolescents survey consent form, the survey was conducted by self-survey method. The final analysis targets were 417. Data analyzed by descriptive analysis, chi-square test, and multiple logistic regression using SPSS 27.0. Results: The significant influencing factors on suicidal ideation were sex, lifetime smoking, self-esteem, depression, and experienced violence. Compared to the group with no experience of violence, the odds ratios for suicidal ideation in the group that experienced only school violence, the group that only experienced domestic violence, and the group that experienced both school violence and domestic violence were 4.0 times, 3.8 times, and 6.1 times higher, respectively. Conclusion: By examining the relationship between adolescents’ experiences of violence and suicidal ideation, it is meaningful in that it presented the necessary evidence basic data for the development of suicide prevention programs in schools and youth suicide policies tailored to the community.
