The definition is the most important in the microstructure items that form headword, and it should be composed with concise and easy sentences. In actual dictionary compilation, it is difficult to combine description of definition and analytical research of definition text due to heavy burden of entire work. In case of Yonsei contemporary dictionary of korean, the first completion was done by performing morpheme analysis on the definition text while proceeding on the compilation work. The biggest reason for implementing this work was to control vocabulary of definition text. Namely, it was intended to be used as basic data to filter out nonᐨregistered words and vocabulary of low frequency used in the definition text. This is very important work as the compilation guide of Yonsei contemporary dictionary of korean states that all words in the definition text should be registered as headword of dictionary. Another goal of this work is to provide correct link function between vocabulary and headword represented in the definition when it is developed into electronic dictionary in the future. This article is composed as below. The chapter 2 deals with the concept of definition text and preceding researches in various research areas; the chapter 3 describes regular data analysis work. 3.1 shows a basic quantitative analysis, and 3.2. analyzes and treats unregistered words. Finally 3.3 shows sentenceᐨfinal vocabulary analysis and its comparison with preceding research data. KCI Citation Count: 1
