Summary:Livestock production emit ammonia (NH3) from its manure, and ammonia is precursor of fine particle. In naturally ventilated barn, it has difficulties to measure its ventilation rate and NH3 emission rate due to its characteristic of ventilation. To measure NH3 emission rate, tracer gas method was used to calculate ventilation rate, and real-time NH3 concentration was measured with Open Path-Tunable Diode Laser in naturally ventilated Hanwoo-barn. The mean NH3 concentration of inside and outside was 2.03 ppm, 0.52 ppm respectively. NH3 concentration was high when cattle was feeding due to increasing animal activity. NH3 emission rate was calculated with NH3, tracer gas concentration and ventilation rate. NH3 emission rate was 13.22~223.57 g · NH3/d · cow and average was 90.97 g · NH3/d · cow.
