체육측정평가의 학문적 명칭의 문제와 대안; 운동계량학

신체활동의 교육으로 태동한 체육에서 탐구영역이 확장되고 학문성이 강조되면서 체육학, 체육과학, 스포츠과학, 운동과학 그리고 운동학 등 다양한 명칭이 구분없이 사용되는 현실이다. 체육관련 다양한 명칭이 학문적 발전의 과도기적 징표라는 긍정적 면도 있으나 학문의 외연적 혼돈과 학문적 정체성 논란도 제기된다. 교육적 관점에서 체육과 학문으로서 체육학을 대신하는 용어로 운동학(kinesiology)을 주장하는 이유는 네 가지이다. 첫째, 체육이 갖는 학문적 제한점이다. 둘째, 학문성의 강조와 학문의 정체성 확립이다. 셋째, 운동은 체육보다 구체적이고 명확한 개념이다. 넷째, 영문 표기에서 문제점 해결이다. 체육 또는 체육학의 하위영역으로 체육측정평가도 명칭적 문제가 제기되고 대안으로 운동계량학을 제안한다. 평가는 측정을 포함하는 광의의 개념으로 검사, 측정 그리고 평가관련 학문적 명칭으로 계량학(metrics)이 보편적이다. 그리고 영문 표기에서 운동계량학(kinesmetrics)으로 간단 명료하게 기술할 수 있기 때문이다. 미래지향적 발전을 위한 운동계량학의 명칭적 타당성이나 학문적 지식체계에 대한 많은 추후연구가 요망된다. The purpose of the study was to discuss the conceptual problems related to the academic title for the existing measurement and evaluation in physical education & exercise science and to examine the validity of 'kinemetrics' which is an alternative name for the measurement and evaluation field in kinesiology. Various disciplinary titles for physical education have been used. As a result, there are tremendous confusion and inconsistencies among the academic disciplines as well as departments. This phenomena also known as 'chaos in sport and sciences'(Hoffman, 1995) has causes lack of academic identity among disciplines in kinesiology. It is suggested that exercise which is a more broad concept than play or sport should be the academic core for each subdiscipline. Similarly, evaluation is too general that includes concepts such as measurement, test or testing. Therefore, metics should replace the current terminology as frequently used for the subjects of quantitative method or tool in sociology, economics, biology and so on. Finally, 'kinesmetrics' is suggested as one of the academic areas in kinesiology instead of measurement and evaluation in physical education and sport or exercise science. KCI Citation Count: 2
