Summary:Aquagenic urticaria is a rare form of physical urticaria characterized by small follicular wheals with an erythematous flare upon exposure to water. A 36-year-old woman had suffered from recurrent wheals accompanied by itching sensation and this happened within a few minutes of contact with water, regardless of its temperature or source (tap water, snow, rain). Past medical history was unremarkable for asthma, allergic rhinitis and food allergy. She had no family history of urticaria. After the provocation test with tap water and ice-cube test, the diagnosis of combined aquagenic and cold urticaria was made. The patient's condition was not satisfactorily controlled with cyproheptadine hydrochloride and other antihistamines. KCI Citation Count: 1
