More Information
Summary:Purpose – This study conducts the co-occurrence analysis using online tourism information of C-TRIP in China in order to understand the experience structure of Chinese tourists visiting coastal and island-type natural heritage in Jeju, South Korea. Design/Methodology/Approach – For this purpose, this study selects three coastal and island-type natural heritages (Udo, Yongduam Rock, and Seongsan IlchulBong) in Jeju as study sites, and collects online tourism information, including the qualitative review data and quantitative grade data, of Chinese tourists. The total number of reviews for the three study sites was 4,617, with 8,354 sentences and 75,928 TF (token count). Findings – The main result of co-occurrence network analysis shows that the grade of 5 and 4 appears most with the visual beauty of natural landscape. A grade of 2 mainly connects with a topographical resources of coastal and island-type natural heritage. In addition, although coastal and island-type natural heritage is a highly likely to be a damaged resource, words such as sustainability, capacity, environment, responsibility, values, fairness, and so on have rarely appeared. Research Implications – The above research results are relevant in order to find the experience structure of Chinese tourists using online review and grade generated and shared by Chinese tourists. It is important to use this information to develop strategies related to expand value added and develop the sustainable tourism of natural heritage tourism resources. KCI Citation Count: 0
