Summary:The high-pressure relief valve used in hydrogen refueling stations is a critical component that mitigates excessive pressure, ensuring the safe and proper operation of the station. However, the domestic supply of this component is entirely dependent on imports. To address this issue, the present study aimed to develop and localize a high-pressure relief valve specifically designed for hydrogen refueling stations. The Changwon Industry Promotion Agency, which operates nine hydrogen refueling stations, conducted an analysis of the materials and structural characteristics of imported high-pressure relief valves to identify the root causes of failures under actual operating conditions. Based on this analysis, efforts were made to localize the valves by optimizing materials and improving the structural design to enhance their strength and durability. Validation tests of the newly developed product's high-pressure relief valve demonstrated a 29% reduction in maximum stress compared to existing imported models, confirming improved structural stability. Furthermore, through appropriate materials and structural design tailored to real-world hydrogen station operating conditions, the feasibility of domestic production and commercialization was successfully demonstrated.
