아렌트 ‘정치적 평등’의 통일교육적 의의 : 도덕 교과를 중심으로

본 연구는 북한과의 관계가 악화되고 있는 지금과 같은 상황일수록 보편적 인권에 대 한 관심과 공적 영역의 삶이 지니는 가치에 대한 내용이 도덕과 통일교육에서 더욱 강 조되어야 한다는 문제의식에서 비롯되었다. 따라서 공적 영역에서 참여하는 삶을 강조 한 Arendt의 ‘정치적 평등’ 개념에 주목하였다. 통일교육에서 학생들이 보편적 가치로서 인권을 요청할 줄 아는 태도를 기를 수 있 도록 하는 내용에 무게중심을 둔 수업이 설계되기 위해서, Arendt의 정치적 평등을 통 해 정치적 삶의 공간에서 서로 간에 평등을 보장하기 위해서는 인위적인 노력이 필요하 다는 점을 다룰 수 있다는 점을 강조하였다. 이에 더하여 독일 통일의 사례에서 얻을 수 있는 교훈으로서 참여가 갖는 의의에 주목해야 한다는 점과 연계하여, Arendt의 정치 적 평등이 공적 영역에서의 행위를 통해 획득되는 덕목으로 규정된다는 점을 설명하였 다. 이를 통해 정치 참여는 학생들의 삶과 무관한 추상적인 영역의 이야기가 아니라 실 존의 문제임을 부각시킬 수 있기 때문이다. This study arises from the awareness that, especially in a time when relations with North Korea are deteriorating, there is a greater need to emphasize the value of universal human rights and public life in moral subject's unification education. Therefore, it focuses on Arendt's concept of ‘political equality’, which emphasizes the importance of participating in the public sphere. To design lessons that enable students to cultivate an attitude of demanding human rights as a universal value in unification education, the study highlights that ensuring equality among individuals in the political sphere requires artificial effort, as suggested by Arendt's political equality. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of participation as a lesson learned from the case of German unification, connecting this idea to Arendt's concept of political equality, which is defined as a virtue acquired through actions in the public sphere. This approach highlights that political participation is not an abstract issue unrelated to students' lives, but rather a matter of existential significance. KCI Citation Count: 0
