燕下都 44號墓의 造營時期와 性格

燕下都 44호묘는 戰國 燕의 철기문화를 이해하는데 중요한 자료로 언급되어 왔다. 하지만 44호묘는 연하도 궁전건축군에 포함되어 있는 5號地下夯土建築遺蹟을 파괴하고 만들어졌기 때문에 전국시대 후기에 조영될 수 있는지의문스럽다. 이에 따라 44호묘에서 출토된 유물들을 분석하였다. 가장 특징적인 유물은 동과인데, 연하도 23호 수공업유적에서 출토된 전형적인 燕戈들과는 전혀 다른 형식이며, 오히려 진시황릉 1호 병마용갱에서 출토된 “呂不韋”명 秦戈와 유사하다. 그뿐 아니라 원내각은 서한 전기의 徐州 獅子山楚王陵 출토 동과와 비슷하다. 따라서 이 동과는 진 통일기~서한 초에 제작 된 것으로 생각된다. 이러한 가능성은 함께 출토된 청동제와 철제 무기들이진시황릉 1호 병마용갱이나 서한대 무덤들에서 자주 확인되고 있는 것으로도 뒷받침된다. 따라서 44호묘는 진 통일기부터 서한 초에 빈번했던 전쟁이나 정변과정에서 발생한 대규모 학살과 관련된 집단 매장묘로 생각된다. 이와 같이 연하도 44호묘의 연대가 반세기가량 낮추어지게 되면, 전국 연의 물질문화, 특히 철기문화에 대한 재검토 작업이 전반적으로 이루어져야할 것이다. 중국 동북지역과 한반도에서 철기문화의 등장시기와 전개과정에대한 이해는 물론 이를 중심으로 논의되고 있는 전국 연의 영역 확장과정에대한 확대 해석 역시 재고되어야 할 것이다. Tomb No. 44 of the Lower Capital of the Yan state has been regardedas important to the understanding of Yan state iron technology. However,analysis of artifacts recovered from Tomb No. 44 revealed similarities withartifacts from the pits of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses from the QinShi Huang mausoleum as well as tombs of the Xihan period. Therefore,it is suggested that Tomb No. 44 is a mass grave associated with a massacrethat occurred during a period of political upheaval and frequent wars inthe Unified Qin state-Xihan period. If Tomb No. 44 indeed datesapproximately half a century later than previously thought, then thematerial culture of the Yan state of the Warring States period—and ironproduction techniques in particular—will have to be fully reexamined. Itwill also be necessary to reinterpret the territorial expansion of the Yanstate of the Warring States period as well as the advent and spread ofiron technology in Northeastern China and the Korean peninsula.
