호남의 문화원형 속 ‘밈’의 의미와 가치

현재까지 호남의 경계와 호남 인식에 대한 논의는 대립하고 있다. 심지어 역사적 측면이나 지리적인 측면에서 호남은 존재 자체에 대한 위협을 받기도 한다. 이러한 호남을 존재하게 하는 힘은 바로 문화다. 문화적 호남은 어떤 상황에서도 사라지거나 변하지 않고 존재한다. 이러한 이유로 밈 연구는 호남을 연구 범주로 설정하여 연구를 진행했다. 이를 통해 호남의 정체성을 확보한 문화원형 안에 존재하는 밈의 가치와 의미를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 지금까지 축적된 호남과 관련한 자료를 수집 및 분석하였다. 이때 호남의 문화원형은 ①자연지리 ②유·무형문화 ③인물 ④사건 ⑤종교 ⑥생활과 민속⑦예술과 문학으로 분류하였다. 이후 무수히 많은 호남의 문화원형에서 보편성과 특수성을 가지면서 호남을 대표하는 동시에 밈 연구에서 활용이 가능한 문화원형을 아카이브 대상으로 선정하고 내용을 정리하였다. 나아가 정리한 호남의 문화원형속 ‘밈’을 확인하여 지역문화로서 갖는 가치를 확인함과 동시에 현대적 재해석을 통해 미래의 자원으로 활용할 수 있는 방법을 모색했다. 문화원형 분석을 통해 확인한 호남의 밈은 ‘저항 밈’, ‘공동체 밈’, ‘풍류 밈’이다. ‘저항 밈’은 호남의 자연지리의 폐쇄성과 개방성이라는 환경에서 발생한 역사적 사건을 통해 장소성을 획득하는 동시에 문화적 상징으로 승화된다. ‘공동체 밈’은 전통 세대가 경험하고 축적해 온 호남 고유의 정체성과 공동체 가치를 강화한다. ‘풍류 밈’은 호남의 문화 정체성을 강화하고 경제적 파급 효과를 내며, 공동체를 결속함과 동시에 외부로 확장하여 지역적 가치를 획득한다. 호남의 밈은 ‘저항-공동체- 풍류’의 순환 고리를 획득하여, ‘과거-현재-미래’를 아우르는 지속 가능한 지역문화의 핵심 유전자로 기능한다. 호남의 ‘저항 밈’, ‘공동체 밈’, ‘풍류 밈’은 현대에 맞는 호남 코드로 전환이 가능하다. 학문적 밈의 개념을 통해 도출한 문화원형 속 호남의 세 가지 밈은 현대사회에서 다양한 형태로 복제, 변형, 확장한다. 세 가지 밈을 활용하여 개발한 교육 콘텐츠, 체험 관광 콘텐츠, 정신 문화 콘텐츠 등은 호남 고유의 문화 정체성을 확인하고 강화함과 동시에 지속가능한 지역 문화를 구축하는 데 기여한다. 이처럼 호남의 밈은 지역문화의 핵심 동력으로 작용하면서, 동시대적 가치화 미래적 잠재력을 극대화 하는 가치를 지닌다. Until now, discussions on the boundary of Honam and the perception of Honam have been opposed. Even in terms of history and geography, Honam is threatened by its existence itself. Culture is the power that makes Honam exist. Cultural Honam exists without disappearing or changing under any circumstances. For this reason, the meme study was conducted by setting Honam as a research category. Through this, it was possible to confirm the value and meaning of memes that exist in the cultural prototype that secures the identity of Honam. In this study, data related to Honam accumulated so far were collected and analyzed. At this time, the cultural prototype of Honam was classified into ① natural geography ② tangible and intangible culture ③ person ④ event ⑥ religious ⑦ life and folk ⑦ arts and literature. Since then, the cultural prototype that can be used in meme research while representing Honam with universality and specificity in countless Honam cultural prototypes has been selected as the archive target and its contents are summarized. Furthermore, we identified the ‘meme’ in the organized cultural prototype of Honam to confirm its value as a local culture and to find a way to use it as a future resource through modern reinterpretation. Memes in Honam confirmed through cultural prototype analysis are ‘resistance memes’, ‘community memes’, and ‘wind memes’. The ‘resistance meme’ acquires location through historical events that occurred in the environment of the closure and openness of Honam’s natural geography and is sublimated into a cultural symbol at the same time. The ‘community meme’ reinforces Honam's unique identity and community value that traditional generations have experienced and accumulated. The ‘wind meme’ strengthens Honam's cultural identity, has an economic ripple effect, unites the community, and expands it to the outside at the same time to acquire regional value. Honam's meme acquires a cycle of ‘resistance-community-wind’ and functions as a key gene for sustainable local culture that encompasses ‘past-present-future’. Honam’s ‘resistance memes’, ‘community memes’, and ‘wind memes’ can be converted into Honam codes that fit the modern era. In the cultural prototype derived through the concept of academic memes, the three memes in Honam are duplicated, transformed, and expanded in various forms in modern society. Educational content, experiential tourism content, and mental cultural content developed using the three memes contribute to establishing a sustainable local culture while confirming and strengthening Honam’s unique cultural identity. In this way, the memes of Honam act as a core driving force of local culture, maximizing the future potential of contemporary value.
