Abstract Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Japan showed that there were 6646 ALS (amytrophic lateral sclerosis) patients. These diseases patients are increasing year by year. Here we described that how we commu-nicated and the meta communication might be the best way to contact different levels of ALS patient. The re-sults indicated that meta communication stabilized the patient emotion, and release her from anxiety. Especially the number of nurse call decreased from 100 times/day to 10 times/day. She complained about muscle weak-ness in arms or legs, a hoarse voice, difficulty walking, clumsy hand, exercise intolerance, abnormal fatigue, and her life should be vanished. We planed to take a wheelchair riding to see beautiful sight, and we introduced her smile and satisfy. 全国には筋萎縮性側索硬化症(以下ALS)患者が6646人(平成14年厚生労働省調べ)存在し、年々増加傾向にある。今回、共に活動を経験する中で得られたメタコミュニケーションの重要性を確認する事が出来た事例を報告する。メタコミュニケーションを実施する事で、患者の情緒を安定させ、不安を取り除く事が出来た。特にナースコールの回数に大きな変化が見られ、一日100回程度から、最終的には一日20回に減少した。
