Summary:Purpose: This research was conducted for the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of a questionnaire in clarifying characteristic patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to weight gain. The questionnaire consisted of eight major and 48 background factors that contribute to weight gain in young male employees after hire. Participants responded to questionnaire items using a six-point scale. Methods: Subjects were 197 full-time male employees aged 25 to 35 years. A questionnaire was created and administered, and principal component analysis was used to evaluate the results. Results: Subjects gaining three or more kilograms after hire represented 62.8%, of which 43.9% gained 10 or more kilograms. Screening based on responses to 18 questions from two major components resulted in a 60% rate of accuracy for the identification of obese participants and participants who had gained. We were also able to classify three characteristic patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to weight gain in obese individuals from 48 background factors. Conclusion: This study suggests that the questionnaire consisting of eight major factors and the 48 background factors contributing to weight gain is useful as a health instruction tool to be used for weight control for young male employees after hire. 目的:若年男性労働者の就職以降に体重増加に繋がる8要因とその背景48項目からなる6件法の「体重増加に繋がる思考・行動のパターンを見出す質問紙」を作成することを目的とする。 方法:事業所常勤の25~35歳の男性197名を対象とした。作成した質問紙は、主成分分析を用いて検討した。結果:対象者の62.8%に就職以降3㎏以上の体重増加を認め、そのうち43.9%に10㎏以上の体重増加を認めた。主要2成分から採用した設問18項目の回答合計を用い6割以上の10㎏以上体重増加者および肥満者の判別と、そのスクリーニングが可能であり、また48項目から3タイプの肥満者の体重増加に繋がる思考・行動パターンが類型化できた。 結論:若年男性労働者の就職以降の体重管理に用いる保健指導ツールとして「体重増加に繋がる8要因とその背景48項目の質問紙」は有用であることが示された。
