Summary:This study retrospectively examined the characteristics of favorable neurological outcomes in children under the age of 17 years old with cardiac arrest due to endogenous disease. Data was collected from the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Registry. Of the 173 subjects, the characteristics (initial cardiac status, witness and age) of the favorable neurological outcome group (N = 13) were compared with those of the unfavorable group (N = 160). The former group demonstrated higher rates of return of spontaneous circulation, lower rates of initial asystole, lower adrenaline dose rates and higher magnesium dose rates.
