Preparation and Properties of Metal Nanoparticles — from AgX Photography to Plasmonics

In AgX photography, nanoparticles of Ag and AgX are used for various purposes. Since Ag and AgX are face-centered cubic in crystal structure, the structure and preparation of metal nanoparticles with the same crystal structure could refer to those of Ag and AgX nanoparticles in photography. From thi...

Summary:In AgX photography, nanoparticles of Ag and AgX are used for various purposes. Since Ag and AgX are face-centered cubic in crystal structure, the structure and preparation of metal nanoparticles with the same crystal structure could refer to those of Ag and AgX nanoparticles in photography. From this point of view, the knowledge on Ag and AgX nanoparticles that has ever been accumulated for many years in photographic science and technology is collected and analyzed to serve as references for the structure and preparation, light absorption, catalysis for redox reactions, photovoltaic effect on semiconductors, and stability of metal nanoparticles for plasmonics.
