Summary:Abstract: In this study, we compared previous studies conducted using the electromyogram (EMG), displacement machanomyogram (dMMG), and a MMG/EMG hybrid sensor system, and evaluated the possibility of using this system to evaluate the function of the biceps brachialis muscle in the elderly. For twenty elderly subjects, a load of 20% -50% of the maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVC) of the biceps brachii was applied, and the average value of each value in each% MVC was calculated. As a result, the values of 20%–50% were discrete Fourier transformed, and the EMG value was significantly increased (p < 0.05) at 30%, 40%, and 50% of the MVC as compared with 20% of the MVC, relative to muscle strength. On MMG, it increased significantly at 50% of the MVC as compared with 20% of the MVC (p < 0.05). Compared with previous studies in young people, this study shows that the muscle function characteristics in the elderly had decreased fast muscle fibers. However, from the correlation diagram, it proved to show a significant correlation.
