Summary:Desmoplastic ameloblastoma (DA) is an uncommon histological subtype of ameloblastoma characterized by an abundance of densely collagenous desmoplastic stroma with small nests and islands of odontogenic epithelium. DA is a locally aggressive odontogenic tumor that mainly involves the anterior region of the jaw. We report an unusual case of DA arising in the posterior body of the mandible of a 49-year-old man. The tomor was successfully treated by segmental resection and immediate reconstruction with an autologous iliac bone graft.
