More Information
Summary:A statistical study on contact dermatitis of the hand, eczema of the hand, and keratodermia tylodes palmaris progressiva was done on the outpatients who consulted our dermatological clinic in the recent 5 years. About 1/3 of the patients with contact dermatitis, who comprised 7.9% of all of the patients, suffered from contact dermatitis of the hand. The patients with eczema of the hand comprised 1.7%, and those with keratodermia tylodes palmaris progressiva 1.2%, of all of the patients. These three dermatitis of the hand were seen most frequently in the twenties, and more in the females than in the males. There were family histories of allergy in 33.8% of the patients with contact dermatitis of the hand, in 41.9% of those with eczema of the hand, and 38.% of those with keratodermia tylodes palmaris progressiva. The frequency of the family histories of allergy in the patients with the dermatitis of the hand was about twice more than that of tinea, which was 20.9%.
