Summary:Skin safety of medicated acne series of three cosmetics was investigated with prophetic patch and photopatch test in 20 healthy adult female volunteers. The skin irritation index of the three products is the following 7.5 to washing jell, 17.5 to spots lotion D and 2.5 to spots lotion N. No significant relation with UVA-radiation was found on the whole test products. Thus, it was evaluated that the whole products were safe for topical use. Next, an attempt to evaluate the clinical utility of the medicated acne series cosmetics was made in 20 female patients with acne vulgaris for 4 weeks. No side effects were found. Global utility ratio was 80.0%. Therefore, it is judged that the medicated acne series cosmetics are excellent products for skin care in subjects with acne vulgaris.
