| Summary: | We analyzed the calcified materials from ten cases of calcinosis cutis. All of the calcified materials were identified as hydroxyapatite (HA) by X-ray diffraction examination. However, Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectral analysis of these specimens showed that each contained calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate. We also detected carbonate in these specimens by total carbon analysis. Therefore, we concluded that the components of these calcified materials were mainly crystalline HA and amorphous calcium carbonate. |
