Myoepithelial Carcinoma Developed in the Submandibular Gland -A Case Report

Summary:Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC) of the salivary gland is a low-grade carcinoma with a predilection for the parotid gland. We present a rare case of EMC arising in the submandiblar gland with two recurrences at intervals of one year. The patient was a 78-year-old man who had received radiation therapy of the right buccal region 60 years earlier, but details of the disease and the treatment plan were not available. In this case, contrast axial CT imaging showed enhancement in the margin and a slight enhancement in the center of the lesion. T1-weighted imaging showed a low signal intensity and T2-weighted imaging showed a low signal intensity in the margin and a high signal intensity in the center of the lesion. Contrast enhanced T1-weighted imaging showed enhancement in the margin only.
