Strömgren u Photometry of CH Cygni

Power-spectrum analysis of Strömgren u-band light curves of CH Cygni reveals a period of ≈2600 s in length. Summary:Power-spectrum analysis of Strömgren u-band light curves of CH Cygni reveals a period of ≈2600 s in length. The period was detected on two nights separated by approximately six months, in early May and late October of 1992. A tentative model is presented which is consistent with the observations but not entirely constrained by them. The model is similar to the structure of a DQ Herculis-type cataclysmic variable. Features in the October light curve also suggest that the accretion process in CH Cyg is subject to occasional disruption. Further observation is required to more fully understand the nature and origin of the ≈2600-s period in CH Cyg.
