Summary:The subject of "creeping" dividers is still a practical problem in any high-voltage laboratory. This paper describes a procedure that may be used to correct the step response creeping of a damped capacitor divider due to frequency dependence of the high voltage capacitor. This involves several steps, starting from the initial step response measurement, then, estimation of the values of compensating components, confirmation of the compensated step response using a circuit emulation program, and the final response measurement/component refinement and any necessary iteration.
