Summary:In this paper, the effects of distributed antenna systems on the power coverage characteristics and the Rician K factor are analyzed by using measured data. The novelty of this paper comes from applying actual measured channel to the distributed antenna systems (DAS) while most literature so far on properties of power coverage and fading in DAS considers only theoretical channels. The measurements were undertaken in an indoor office scenario. It is verified that the power coverage is more uniform in the DAS than that in the conventional centralized antenna systems (CAS). The results also show that the DAS systems can smooth the Rician K factor compared to the CAS case. Therefore, it is inferred that the DAS system can provide higher energy efficiency and better communication performance.
