A PMU Model for Dynamic State Estimation of Power Systems

In a power system, the estimation and analysis of dynamic effects is a difficult task. This is because, these effects are stochastic, non-linear, time variant, and of high orders. With the inception of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), dynamic monitoring and control of power system have become quite...

Summary:In a power system, the estimation and analysis of dynamic effects is a difficult task. This is because, these effects are stochastic, non-linear, time variant, and of high orders. With the inception of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), dynamic monitoring and control of power system have become quite promising. This paper uses the literature review already available for this subject which can be used as inputs to the research works related to dynamic state estimation. Furthermore, the technical aspects of dynamic State Estimation in Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) are also analyzed along with a PMU Model developed in MATLAB Simulink.
